In 2010, not only did Google mark the 4th of July, but also Rube Goldberg's birthday.

Last year, Google celebrated all of America with symbols spanning the country.

This year Google has gone retro with a Woody Guthrie quote.

One thing we have come to love about national holidays is the tradition of
Google Doodles, themed illustrations that appear on the company’s homepage on special occasions.
Since 2000, Google has been marking the 4th of July with patriotic
Doodles that incorporate the most iconic symbols of all things
Independence Day.
